CREATE ROOF COVERING IN A MINUTE

There are several ways to spread tiles over a roof or cover it with a metal profile. Here's one way to do it quickly.

This is a 3DS Max smart object from Aviz Studio.
It can be downloaded and then imported with Import - Merge into your scene.
If you select an edge or plane of the sample, the Editable Mesh properties will appear in the Modify tab. Next - Smart Object Properties - Build New From Edge button, and pick whole roof planes.

As we can see with just one click we can create a new complex object model in a few seconds.

We can create all the tiles for all the ridges and hips of the roof. If we select the other imported smart object we can do the same for all roof planes.

Sometimes when your roof planes are not perfectly aligned and flat face of the roof tiles could be cut off, we can fix this by recreating the roof tiles by selecting a point in a polygon that is close to the bottom edge. As a result we have a roof covering with tiles for under a minute.

We no longer need the original objects because the new ones that we've created have the same functionality. The main advantage of our smart object is that they are flexible and very easy to change or update. If we extend the size of our roof like this we can simply delete all the roof tiles that are no longer in the correct place or with the correct size and rebuild all missing roof tiles very fast.

To use these objects you don't need to install any additional plugins or scripts. You do not need to manage any external files or libraries, all the functions are built in.

The second version of the smart object builds metal roof plates coverage and works in the same way.
