How to use the MultiTexture plugin

Hi there! Today we'll be exploring the MultiTexture plugin and learning how to use it to create realistic images. Let's start by taking a look at how we can use it to create textured floors using the FloorGenerator plugin.

With the MultiTexture plugin, we can use different textures for different floorboards, which is a great way to add variety to our designs. To get started, we'll need to load the textures into the MultiTexture map. You can find some great textures to use for your floorboards on this website: http://flooringstudio.esignserver2.com/gallery.do.

If the textures appear rotated at the wrong angle, don't worry! You can easily fix this by rotating them in the map settings by 90 degrees. You'll find the rotation parameter in the settings.

To add some extra variety to our textures, we can adjust the random tab by putting in a value of 0.2. This will slightly change the shade of the textures at random.

For the reflection slot, we can create another MultiTexture card and plug it into the reflection slot. To make it look great, we'll need to take the original textures and discolor them in Photoshop to make them black and white.

To adjust the degree of reflection and glossiness parameter, we can use the third MultiTexture card. In Photoshop, we'll need to make the textures more contrasty, and use the same textures for the bump slot. You can set the value in the bump slot at 0.2 or whatever you prefer.

Remember not to change the names of the textures too much, so that the black and white textures are not accidentally mixed up with the color ones.

In future articles, we'll go over some other useful plugins that can help take your designs to the next level. Thanks for reading!
