How to make silk material in Corona render?
To make any material, we need the Material Editor (M key). Select CoronaMtl or VrayMtl material and expand the slot with the ball to see what changes will happen to the material.
If you look at the silk fabric, it does not have a monochromatic shade. At different angles, the material changes its hue slightly and shines.
Let's take a look at what that looks like.
To achieve this effect, put a Falloff map in Diffuse.
Swap the black and white colors to achieve the transition from dark to light. Instead of black we choose the desired color, for example blue.
After that, copy the blue in place of the white and change its brightness.
And now for the fun part.
Go to the Mix Curve and move the left-most point up.
Use the Add Point tool to add three more points.
Position the points as shown in the picture.
You can already see the transition from dark to light, but you want it to be smoother. Therefore, it is necessary to set the points as Bezier-Smooth (by clicking on them with the right mouse button). Then you can twirl them by the sticks, adjusting the smoothness of the transition of one color to another.
You can place the dots and make a curve like in this example:
Or you can do it like this one:
.... or you can make up your own version!
See how different curve settings can be for silk material.
Also, you can use the exact same map (Falloff) to adjust silk reflections as in the example below. The result may become more interesting.
Don't stop at this stage, experiment with the number of points and the curve, and add different shades of color. The result will surprise and delight you. You can also add textures and patterns to Falloff map.
Important: The greater the difference between light and dark colors in the Falloff map - the better.
Material is ready, you can run the renderer and enjoy.
In V-ray material is created similarly.
Have a good render!
