How to create a round hole in the square grid of the 3d model?
Today let's look at four ways to create a round hole in a square grid. You can use any of them that you like best. The most common way to create them is from octagons, in order to get a fairly even circle when smoothing out the mesh.
For example, let's create a 4x4 polygon mesh and create a copy of it with the "Reference" parameter. Apply the TurboSmooth modifier to this copy.
So you will see the result of what you've got at once.
1. Option one is to use the Loop Regularizer script:
(download it here: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/loop-regularizer)
2. The second way is through polygons and using the sverify modifier:
Please note that this method works only with flat squares.
3. The third way - using the ribbon panel, GeoPoly tool.
You need to select the edges in the middle of the polygons, remove them, and apply the GeoPoly tool to the center polygon in the ribbon panel.
4. The fourth way is through the points, with slicing of additional edges, and using the chemfer command. This method also works only with even squares.
