Customize 3ds Max for a comfortable workflow. Customize User Interface.


In this article we will explore the Customize User Interface section of the Customize menu. Knowing its functionality, you can easily customize the interface of 3ds Max for yourself:

1) Set hotkeys; 2) customize functions of the mouse; 3) Create custom toolbars; 4) Customize context menus; 5) Set the color for interface elements.

To open it, click Customize -> Customize User Interface in the command bar.

The Keyboard tab allows you to change existing hotkeys and define your own.

Let's try to assign the Space key to the Swift Loop function. To do this, select the functionclick on the input field Hotkey press the key combination we want (in our case we press the spacebar) → click on the Assign button.

The Mouse tab allows you to change the mouse settings.

Let's set up the speed of zooming in to the object when you rotate the mouse wheel. To do this, let's change the Wheel Zoom Increment parameter.

The next tab Toolbars allows us to create our own toolbar and add the tools we want on it.

Let's add the button to create a Physical Camera to the Toolbar.

To do this, let's create a new Toolbar, move the desired function to it, and drag the Toolbar to the panel.

The Quads tab is for setting up right-click mouse context menus.

Let's add the FFD 2x2x2 modifier to the Custom Quad context menu (called by Shift+Ctrl+Alt+right mouse button). So, you can add any functions, modifiers, and objects to the Quad menu.

Using the Menus tab, you can customize the commands of any of the existing menus in 3ds max.

Let's add a button to call the Relink Bitmaps script to the Scripting menu.

In the Colors tab, you can customize the color of the UI elements. Normally, this is not necessary.

For example, let's change the color of the dots on the model.

Knowing all the sections in the Customize menu makes it easy to customize the interface to your preferences. You can also customize several versions of the interface and load them as needed.
